Flea Market Quilt
When I saw this pattern by Camille Roskelley many months ago, I knew I wanted to make this quilt because I love the hexi pattern. I had no idea at the time how the pattern would be put together, but I dove right in and bought the pattern and fabric. Unfortunately, life got in the way and it would be some time before I would actually start to make the quilt. I assumed when I started that it would just be another quilt to add to my home collection, but I guess God had other plans.
While sewing this one together I kept questioning if I was to keep this one or give it away. For some reason I kept hearing in my mind that I should give this one to my daughter, Christine. So by the time I was halfway through I had made up my mind that I was going to gift it to her. I don’t know why, but it became important for me to finish it right away and mail it before Christmas.
I started on this quilt on the 2nd of December and by the 16th I had it finished including quilting it on Miss Moxie, my longarm machine.
UPDATE #2: I asked Christine if she was using her quilt and she said “no”, for the time being it is folded next to her bed, so when she needs to feel close to her Mom, she can hug it and get the sense that I am right there with her as it smells like me (I washed it before I sent it to her). She said “it smells like home.” She has no idea how much that meant to me.
