🌼 Dainty Daisy — Basic of the Month
Dainty Daisy by Beverly McCullough for Riley Blake Designs is October’s Basic of the Month.
I have a soft spot for Beverly McCullough’s designs. My Berry Market quilt is one of her patterns, so this one immediately caught my attention.
Dainty Daisy is one of those fabrics that can work in so many different projects. A good basic doesn’t have to be boring! It can add a little interest while still playing nicely with the other fabrics in your quilt.

✂️ Dritz — Notion of the Month
If you’ve been sewing for any length of time, there’s a pretty good chance you have a Dritz notion or two tucked away somewhere in your sewing room.
Dritz is Fat Quarter Shop’s Notion of the Month for October, so this would be a good time to look through your sewing supplies and see if there are any tools or basics that need replacing—or maybe something you’ve been wanting to try.

📚 G.E. Designs — Books of the Month
The featured Books of the Month for October are from G.E. Designs.
I’m always interested in seeing different approaches to quilt construction, and quilt books can be a great source of inspiration when you’re trying to decide what to make next.
If you’re looking for a new project—or just enjoy adding quilting books to your collection—these are worth a look while they’re featured this month.

🎃 Halloween Patterns
October wouldn’t be complete without something Halloween related!
Fat Quarter Shop is featuring select Halloween quilt patterns as its Patterns of the Month. Whether you like cute Halloween projects, pumpkins, cats, or something a little more spooky, this is a fun time to pick up a pattern for your fall sewing.
And really, who says you have to finish a Halloween quilt before Halloween? There’s always next year!

For my cross-stitching friends, Fat Quarter Shop is also featuring select Halloween patterns in its Cross Stitch Sale of the Month.

🧶 Something for the Crocheters, Too!
This one caught my attention for a completely different reason.
Lori Holt has a new Granny Square Along Crochet Book, part of her Cozy Crochet Series. The book was inspired by the granny squares Lori first learned to crochet with her grandmother and includes 13 crochet projects with her familiar scrappy, vintage style.
If you read my recent post about my own crochet projects, you know that quilting isn’t the only thing I know how to do! I learned to crochet when I was 19, although it has been quite a while since I’ve picked up a crochet hook.
Seeing this book makes me wonder if maybe I need to change that.
And since I already love Lori Holt’s quilting designs and fabrics, this one is especially tempting.

🐈 Cat-O-Lantern Quilt Pattern
And finally, how cute is this?
Fat Quarter Shop has brought back its Cat-O-Lantern Quilt Pattern just in time for Halloween.
The pattern features a kitty hugging a jack-o’-lantern and only requires four fat quarters plus binding.
This looks like one of those smaller seasonal projects that would be fun to make without committing to another large quilt—and we all know I certainly don’t need another unfinished quilt project!

What Caught My Eye This Month
If I had to choose the things that caught my attention most this month, I would probably pick Dainty Daisy, Lori Holt’s Granny Square Along Crochet Book, and that adorable Cat-O-Lantern pattern.
That’s what I want these monthly posts to be about—not just telling you what’s on sale, but sharing the things I find interesting and think you might enjoy too.
I’ll be back next month with another roundup of what’s new and what’s on sale at Fat Quarter Shop.
Until then, happy stitching!
